Please note this event will be held from 11am - Noon EST.
MAPLE New York is very pleased to be working with the Long Island Association (LIA) together with the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to co-host an LIA International Trade Committee event looking at the opportunities for Long Island and the New York region that are now available as a result of the new USMCA Trade Agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Entered into force on July 1, 2020, USMCA replaced the 26-year old North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). With many updates to reflect today's economy and with enhancements for small and medium-sized enterprises, USMCA represents an important foundation to support the significant trade relationship that exists between the U.S., Mexico and Canada and drive its continued growth.
In addition to my role as Executive Director of MAPLE New York, I am the Chairman of the LIA International Trade Committee where we focus on International economic ties for the Long Island business community.
At this event, I will be moderating a panel discussion with three distinguished guests. We are honored to welcome Catherine Muth, Foreign Service Commercial Officer with the U.S. Commercial Service; Mexico's Consul General in New York, Dr. Jorge Islas López; and Canadian Acting Consul General in New York, Khawar Nasim.
Whether you live and work in Long Island or outside of the Greater New York City region, if your business reaches markets across North America, we hope you will join us to hear from our distinguished guests on the importance and opportunities with our updated trade agreement.
