In this year’s annual research on Foreign Direct Investment in California sponsored by our friends at the World Trade Center Los Angeles and released at the 2022 SelectLA Investment Summit, Canada ranks 4th after Japan, the United Kingdom and France. Canada’s ranking increased 2 places from the 2021 report.
Canada’s FDI contribution to California remains significant accounting for nearly 50k jobs across approximately 1500 establishments. These jobs represent a combined annual payroll of $5.3 billion and are across sectors such as manufacturing, professional/business services, financial activities, wholesale trade and information services.
Canada’s ranking as the fourth highest source of foreign direct investment is not only for the entire state of California but also for the Southern California and Los Angeles regions. In the Bay Area, Canada ranks 6th.
