We are pleased to announce that we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Waterloo, Ontario-based Communitech Outposts to support Canadian start-ups growing in key U.S. markets and U.S. businesses considering expansion to Canada.
Communitech Outposts assists Canadian companies across all sectors looking to hire talent in major foreign markets in 160 countries including the United States. By providing an “employer of record” service that includes global talent onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, and international HR compliance, Communitech Outposts helps scaling Canadian organizations quickly employ local talent in foreign markets by providing turnkey employment services that are compliant with each market thereby saving valuable time and reducing costs. Since launching Outposts, Communitech has seen a significant demand for this service and the U.S., especially California, represents one of the top markets.
MAPLE Business Council and Communitech Outposts will undertake activities to generate awareness for each other’s mission and services to their respective communities and across their networks. As a senior executive networking community focused on growing economic ties between Canada and the U.S. in Southern California and New York, MAPLE represents a valuable networking ecosystem for employees of Communitech Outposts client companies, and the companies themselves, to leverage.
“A key team member of a Waterloo start-up working in Los Angeles or New York can network with MAPLE members and partners who have ties to Canada and who also value the opportunity for doing more business together,” said Robert Kelle, co-founder of MAPLE. “Plugging the local executive into our community adds valuable networking and content opportunities that can assist both the employee and the Canadian parent to continue to grow in the region.”
As a cross-border network, about 40% of MAPLE members are based across Canada with Ontario being a key market. “Utilizing our communication platforms, we will be sharing what Communitech Outposts offers growing Canadian companies who may look at the challenges of hiring team members in the U.S. as an impediment to expanding their presence in Southern California or New York,” said Stephen Armstrong, co-founder of MAPLE. “Moreover, for the remaining 60% of our members who are based in the U.S., Communitech, as a major stakeholder within one of Canada’s leading innovation regions, represents a significant networking resource to get to know when considering expanding to Canada.”
“We really look forward to partnering more closely with MAPLE Business Council,” said Azhar Janjua, Head of Communitech Outposts. “Having a well-established Canadian-led, cross-border business network active in key U.S. markets naturally complements our focus on helping our clients to be successful internationally. There are valuable opportunities for Canadian companies to raise their visibility in key U.S. markets by becoming members of MAPLE Business Council.”
Communitech Outposts and MAPLE will initially focus on raising the awareness of each other’s missions and services to their respective networks through cross-content opportunities and cross-promotion of each other’s events.
